Bio

Alex Severson is a Research Scientist III at the Center for Applied Research and Analysis. Prior to joining ISR in 2020, Alex received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Florida State University in 2018 and taught as a Visiting Assistant Professor of American Politics in the Department of Political Science at Boise State University for two years. His research interests span the areas of policy evaluation, political psychology, behavioral economics, experimental methods, public opinion, and survey methodology, and his peer-reviewed research has been published in outlets including State Politics and Policy Quarterly, The Journal of Experimental Political Science, and Social Science Quarterly. Alex has taught graduate-level courses in Advanced Quantitative Analysis, Survey Research Methods, and Social Science Research Design and over twenty undergraduate courses in Public Policy, Policy Evaluation, Public Opinion and Electoral Behavior, Political Psychology, and Applied Campaign Management in his time at the University of New Mexico, Boise State University, and Florida State University. In his time at ISR, Alex has worked on various components of ISR's evaluations of the Department of Behavioral Health Services' Behavioral Health Initiative-funded Peer Case Management program, Education and Training program, Mobile Crisis Team program, and Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) program.
