Matthew Nestler is a Research Scientist 3 at the Center for Applied Research and Analysis (CARA) at the Institute for Social Research (ISR). He completed an MA in Political Science and a PhD in History from Stanford University. His dissertation examines inflation and inequality in Brazil from the 1940s-1970s, and he has training in both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Matthew also holds a BA in Spanish Language & Literature from Wesleyan University and an MA in the Social Sciences (MAPSS) from the University of Chicago. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, and hiking.
